I had hoped to use this booktalk today with seventh graders, but we are out of school for a lovely ice storm that blew in last night. Thankfully, we still have electricity (for now), so I thought I would share it while I have the chance.
This booktalk features books about gifts we wouldn't want to receive: well-intentioned curses, mysterious letters, coveted special abilities, creepy family heirlooms, etc. The Prezi starts with a clip from one of my all-time favorite holiday movies--National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation--to get the students' attention and introduce the theme.
